SMRT Systems Alternative: Lighter Dry Cleaning Software for 2026

SMRT Systems is one of the most respected names in US dry cleaning software. It is built for plants that run conveyors, assembly and route delivery, and its users rate it highly: 4.9 out of 5 from 117 reviews on Capterra (as of October 2026).

But not every dry cleaner needs a production-floor platform. If you run a single counter, a drop store or a small plant without a conveyor, or you simply want to see a price before booking a demo, a lighter tool may fit better. This guide compares SMRT with the main alternatives, using each vendor's own website and public review listings. We make Cleandy, one of the options below, so we have been explicit about where it is weaker as well as where it fits.

What SMRT Systems Does Well

SMRT describes itself as a cloud-based POS and business management platform built specifically for dry cleaners. According to its website, it offers:

  • Point of sale that runs on the Mac or Windows computers you already have, with a photo of each garment taken at intake.
  • Assembly and conveyors: visual and voice-guided assisted assembly, and a direct connection to Metalprogetti conveyors, baggers, kiosks, storage systems and dispatch lines.
  • Pickup and delivery with route optimization and a driver app.
  • Payments with cards on file and autopay when an order is completed. SMRT says it will "beat or match" your current processing rate.
  • SMRT Marketing, a "Power-Up" for email and SMS campaigns and review collection.
  • An Online Wardrobe where customers can follow their order.

If your business depends on a conveyor and a busy route operation, SMRT is built for exactly that, and its reviews reflect it.

Why Some Owners Look for an SMRT Alternative

None of these reasons make SMRT a bad product. They are questions of fit.

You want to see pricing first. SMRT does not publish prices on its website; the next step is a demo or a call with sales. Its Capterra listing shows a starting price of $75 per user per month and says no free trial is available. For a two- or three-person counter, per-user pricing is worth modeling before you commit.

You don't run a production floor. Much of SMRT's value sits in assembly, conveyor control and route management. A drop store or a small single-location cleaner may pay for depth it never uses.

Your customers prefer WhatsApp. SMRT's pages talk about texts, email and live status updates; we found no mention of WhatsApp. If many of your customers read WhatsApp before they read a text, check how each system handles it.

You want to start today. Some owners want to sign up, load a price list and take the first order the same afternoon, without a sales call.

The Alternatives in More Detail

CleanCloud

CleanCloud is the closest like-for-like alternative to SMRT for many US shops, and it publishes its prices. US plans billed annually are Lite at $89/month (500 orders), Pro at $109/month (2,000 orders) and Grow at $169/month (3,000 orders); month to month they are $99, $129 and $189. Pro adds pickup and delivery, route optimization, a driver app, Uber and DoorDash integrations, heat-seal barcode tags and assisted assembly. Grow adds auto assembly and API access. Notifications go out by SMS, email, push and WhatsApp, and it connects to QuickBooks and Xero. CleanCloud says more than 5,000 laundromats and dry cleaners use it. Onboarding is a separate cost, and SMS credits are an optional extra. We have a separate CleanCloud alternative comparison if you are weighing that up too.

Geelus

Geelus is the low-cost option with excellent reviews: 5.0 from 155 reviews on Capterra. It runs in a browser or as an installed app on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, and has an offline mode. Even the entry plan includes integrated payments, pickup and delivery with routing, and a customer app. The catch is volume: Starter covers 50 orders a month and Small covers 250. Unlimited orders start on the Medium plan, at $109/month billed annually in the US. Our Geelus alternative guide has the full price table.

Cleandy

Cleandy is cloud-based dry cleaning software that runs in any browser on a computer, tablet or phone. It comes from the team behind Hamarat, which has served 600+ stores since 2002. The workflow is built around the counter: garment-by-garment orders from 140+ pre-defined items, stain location and notes per item, a printed label for every piece, a pickup-date view, customer history and a daily cash report.

Its main strength is WhatsApp. On every plan, a receipt goes to the customer's WhatsApp the moment an order is saved (one message uses one credit; new accounts get 1,000 free credits). Orders uncollected for more than 10 days are flagged, with a one-tap WhatsApp reminder, and account customers can receive a statement on WhatsApp. Every plan includes 1,000 WhatsApp credits, and more can be bought in the app.

Pricing is published and billed yearly (+ VAT):

  • Starter, $248/year: 1,000 receipts a month, 2 users.
  • Professional, $331/year: 3,000 receipts a month, 4 users and product photo capture, so damage and condition photos are on this plan and above.
  • Enterprise, $415/year: 5,000 receipts a month, unlimited users, 2 branches included and a mobile owner screen.

Paying yearly gives 12 months for the price of 10, and the 15-day free trial needs no credit card. Details are on the dry cleaning software page and the pricing section.

Quick Dry Cleaning Software

Quick Dry Cleaning Software, from DC Web Services in India, says it runs in 5,000+ locations across 22 countries, including the US, UK, Canada and Australia. It leans into WhatsApp automation, branded customer apps, an Android rider app and multi-store dashboards for groups up to franchise scale. A free plan covers 100 orders a month; above that, pricing is usage-based and quoted on request.

Xplor Spot and Enlite POS

Xplor Spot, now part of the Xplor Group, is a long-established US dry cleaning POS. Its website lists pickup and delivery, automated email and SMS, garment photo capture and integration with production automation tools. Enlite POS, whose website now redirects to a Dark POS page, lists routing, smart lockers, a white-label app and LED-assisted rapid assembly. Both quote prices individually, and both are closer to SMRT in scope than the lighter tools above.

Where Cleandy Is Weaker Than SMRT

If you are comparing SMRT with Cleandy specifically, be clear about the gaps. Cleandy's website does not list:

  • Conveyor, assembly or Metalprogetti integration.
  • Route optimization or a customer-facing booking app.
  • Integrated card processing or card terminals. Cash, card, account and partial payments are recorded, not processed.
  • Heat-seal tags. Labels are paper tags printed on an Epson TM-U220 dot-matrix printer.
  • SMS campaigns or a QuickBooks or Xero integration.

Cleandy itself is also a newer product. The experience behind it comes from Hamarat, but its Capterra listing has no reviews yet. If you run a high-volume US plant, SMRT, CleanCloud or Spot will likely serve you better. Cleandy fits when the work happens at the counter, customers like WhatsApp, and you want a fixed yearly price.

How to Choose

  1. Map your workflow. If garments ride a conveyor and you assemble by bag, shortlist SMRT, CleanCloud Pro or Grow, or Spot.
  2. Count orders and users. Order-capped plans (CleanCloud, Geelus, Cleandy) are good value only if your volume fits the tier.
  3. Decide on channels. Check whether customers read SMS, email or WhatsApp, and whether messages cost extra.
  4. Ask for the full cost. Include payment processing, hardware, onboarding and message credits.
  5. Trial with real tickets. Run a busy day's orders through a free trial before you switch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best alternative to SMRT Systems?
